By Antonio Eastgate

The home business trend has been growing at a rapid pace these past few years. A home typing service is a terrific idea to get into. For the most part, it won't make you a millionaire but you can expect a few hundred dollars per month. Most people definitely could use that. However, if you are fast and good at typing, you have the potential to find plenty of business coming your way from referrals and recommendations and your monthly income could skyrocket, making it a great home business idea.

There are numerous people looking for typing services all across the country meaning there is plenty of opportunities to start this type of business. Business people, doctors, lawyers, authors, students, and job seekers request typing service everyday. Some of these requests include resumes, sales letters, flyers, lawyers letters, student assignments, announcements, manuscripts, and newsletters among other things. With all these typing service opportunities out there, it is not difficult to start this type of home business.

In order to be successful in doing a typing service, you need to obviously be able to type well. It is better to be meticulous and professional rather than just a fast typer. You also need to be dependable and reliable. Basically you have to be able to finish your projects on time.

If you do start a typing service and are ready to begin working, it is time to spread the word around about your new typing service. The best way to spread the word is by passing out business cards to places like doctors' rooms, libraries, hospitals, and other places that need typing service. Another great idea is to make up small posters and pin them up on bulletin boards in shopping centers, community centers, and message boards on campuses and colleges nearby. Any high foot traffic area is a recommended spot to spread the word.

A typing service can be a wonderful way to put some extra bucks in your pocket. Sometimes it can become a full time job if your really good at it. Regardless of how much you make, a typing service is a successful home business opportunity anyone can do.

How To Find Customer Service At Home Jobs

More and more companies are getting on the bandwagon of cutting costs by hiring or outsourcing their work. Meaning utilizing a lot more technology. The age of telecommuting is here and is continuously rising.

There are so many work at home positions that are actually available online. These businesses are realizing that having employees work from home is a great advantage, because it will reduce many in house costs. Of course this is great to those of us who would love to be able work from the comforts of home.

In my other articles I had indicated that data entry jobs are becoming increasing in demand. Along the same lines…. although there are many online jobs, one kind of job that is increasing its demand is, “work at home phone jobs” – well I should say “customer service” jobs. Companies are hiring people to do different tasks over the phone either at home or at the company location. The main focus is to find the companies that hire you to work from home.

Telecommunication companies are the greatest areas to find “customer service” related home jobs. If you have some great professional skills such as Project Management, then you would definitely qualify for one of their amazing well-paid positions. Just for an example AT&T pays its Project Managers approximately $70,000 a year (I know I used to work for them as a PM), guess what, YOU CAN WORK FROM HOME!! They still give you a small office or a “cubicle” that you never go to because you are constantly traveling or just working from home. The company even provides you with your very own laptop, blackberry cell phone, pager, and great benefits for your phone and Internet charges. The list goes on. Some telecommunication companies utilize an outside agency to do their hiring so make sure to look for that.

For those of us women, just a tip… please be careful about these so-called customer service agent jobs out there. Don’t get desperate enough to sign up with these companies. See you are told that you would be handling inbound calls from callers and all you need to do is have a conversation with the clients. Yes, it was an adult phone operator. You wont believe how these companies are making extreme amounts of money off these women who work at home and degrade themselves via live phone. So again please very weary and cautious of those. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has to make a living and I am not knocking it… but you don’t have to stoop that low….

Check online classified ads such as Craigslist.com, Career builders.com, Monster.com, Yahoo Hot Jobs… If you keep checking on them on a daily basis, you will be able to catch an add from a company looking to hire work at home customer service agents. As a matter of fact, I found a fun company site called “Great Adventures” who had advertised on Craigslist for work at home phone order takers. The main duties were to type messages such as from Santa to the kids of the customers. That was really neat! Imagine you are actually writing the Dear Santa Letters…. (smile). And not to mention, its not just Santa, there are other hero themes and adventures. These are the types of opportunities that are out there… You have to just research, research.

Now of course, Telemarketing has always been around (maybe close to the dinosaur age – just kidding). You can always find telemarketing (outbound) positions from all sorts of companies. They have such a high rate of work at home positions that they are pretty much overruling the market on sales strategies utilizing telecommunications. Either by chat, phone, text messaging (yes there are jobs that you can do from your Cell Phone….)
I say if you are a great “salesman or saleswoman” then I say SELL away. There are actually lucrative opportunities within this. You have to be pretty disciplined for 99% of the time you will get paid commission only. So it is up to you to make it what you want.

Need Some Help Looking for Typing Work?

One day my teenage daughter asked me. “Mom, I think I have great text messaging skills… do you think I can find job in typing?” Well my first reaction (to myself) was “Are you kidding me… what kind of skills are in text messaging?” However being a wonderful mom that I am (smile), I said, “well it is a form of typing skills along with a strong sense of decoding... Ah ha! How about data entry in some fashion or form?

Data entry I believe is the most crucial part of any business. There are ALWAYS data to be entered. There are thousands of companies that hire data entry workers internally (meaning at the job site) and by ways of telecommuting (meaning they could work from home).

In my experience, one of thee best method of getting work typing for companies are getting registered with Temporary Agencies. These are agencies that “just like the title”; find you temporary work to appease the employers who asked these agencies for help. Sometimes the assignments are short and sometimes they might be permanent. Once you get registered with them (by the way are FREE), they will do their best to find work in your line of expertise. Well with those great typing skills, these agencies can almost 95% of the time find work for you. This is a great way to start to see what areas or line of employers you want to get involved with.

Now you will come across a small hurdle but sometimes not… the agencies will ask or even give you a typing test. They want to make sure that you CAN type. Some people “fake the funk” and well lets just say it isn’t pretty. If they don’t offer the test or a certification for your typing skills, they will tell you where to go and if there is a cost at all.

Once you have registered and took your typing test and (Passed – smile) received your certification then you are now on the “Available List.” The available list basically means you are veering and ready to go to work. Now the average pass for typing tests are normally between 30-45 wpm depending on the employer or agency. However I am sure that YOU have those great speed skills already!

Last, be ready when your phone rings, or even get an email notification (You’ve got mail!) regarding your assignment. In order to get more jobs in the future you must show them a good attendance and a willing to take on assignments eagerly. Who knows… you just may land a permanent position with a company that you have always wanted to work for. But my suggestions, shop yourself around and look for these opportunities. Don’t settle for dull typing clerical positions…go and have fun with it!
